Light Yagami from Death Note is, in my opinion, the best anime villain. He’s an honor student of a police chief who is himself going to school in law, and the last person someone would suspect to be murdering hundreds of people, innocent or not. He also doesn’t look the part. I know in most anime, this doesn’t mean much, but, given his good looks and charm, it’s hard to imagine him being “Kira”.
Aside from all of that, Light is also the best villain because how cunning, clever, methodical, manipulative, and down right brutal he can be. It’s crazy how well thought out and detailed some of the murders in his Death Note are, and how he uses all the people around him to further himself towards his obscene sense of justice and world domination. Light Yagami as “Kira” was truly a force to be reckoned with, and is the best anime villain.
Oh my. Just oh my. I don’t think I can choose. This one is just as hard, if not harder, than trying to figure out who exactly my anime crush was. Well, I’ll just say my candidates, and leave it at that.
- Vash the Stampede from Trigun
- Naruto from Naruto (Shippuden)
- Edward Elric from Full Metal Alchemist (:Brotherhood)
- Usagi from Sailormoon
Since I missed posting yesterday, I missed out on posting “episode 22: Favorite Animal, Sidekick, Pet, or Summoning from Any Anime”. Oh well. Today, though, I would have to say the most interesting and fantastic art would go the anime movie, Tekkonkinkreet. The video features a few clips from the movie. I’ll let the work speak for itself.
Now while my favorite goofy character is not always goofy, he does quite a lot of silly things when going about his daily shenanigans! Vash The Stampede from Trigun is absolutely hilarious. With memorable moments of when he introduces himself to Wolfwood as “I am Valentinez Alkalinelia Xifax Sicidabohertz Gumbigobillo Blue Stradivari Talentrent Pierre Andri Charton-Haymoss Ivanovicci Baldeus George Doitzel Kaiser” or when he strolls through a town screaming, “My name is VASH THE STAMPEDE!! Forgive the lack of warning, but it’s time for my daily massacre! If you do not believe I am the real thing, take a good look at me and start freaking out!!” in an attempt to evacuate the town before the bad guys got there. He’s misunderstood and nothing short incredible, and he’s hilarious. The series is an oldie, but a goodie and so is Vash!
While there are a plethora of different animes about kids going to high school, my favorite would have to be Clannad. This show was so touching. I’ve never cried more while watching an anime than I did during this show and then Clannad: The After Story. I just can’t say how much that I really enjoyed this series. The characters were deep, the plot line tragic yet fulfilling to the viewer, and the animation was beautiful. I couldn’t recommend this series more.
And there they are.
I thought about this long and hard. Okay not really, but I did put some thought into it. What is the ultimate weapon? What can cause the most damage imaginable? What is the most feared object in the anime universe. Then it hit me…. The Death Note. No other weapon can kill in the numbers that the Death Note can in the animosity that it does. No other weapon can kill in the variety that the Death Note does. With the help of Shinigami, it allows the user to see when people are suppose to die and their real name. The Death Note is, in my opinion, the ultimate weapon allowing its user to be the ultimate “Kira” without ever having to leave the comfort of their home.
