Joe Hisaishi’s Studio Ghibli Concert

I have been a fan of Studio Ghibli for as long as I can remember. They’re responsible for bringing such beautiful works of art to life such as “My Neighbor Totoro”, “Princess Mononoke”, “Laputa in the Sky”, “Spirited Away”, “Howl’s Moving Castle”, and “Ponyo” to name only a few. These works all have stood the test of time, and all were directed by  Hayao Miyazaki. Miyazaki would only trust the music, the subtle emotional emphasis that is given to a scene, to one man. His name was Joe Hisaishi.

Hisaishi is by far my favorite composer within the last century. He is able to capture emotions and moods within his music, and make you feel them as well. His work stays with you. I’m listening to it right now, and I’m getting goosebumbs. His compositions literally have a physical effect on the listener.

I’ll quite bragging now, and let his work speak for itself. Here’s a video of his Studio Ghibli 25 years concert. Below the video is a program for the event.
